Details about this 1995 Jaguar Xjs V12 6.0 Liter Convertible

Built by Jaguar Cars, Brown’s Lane, Coventry, England in late 1994, this superb example of the 6.0 liter V12 equipped Jaguar XJS was exported to the United States and sold as a 1995 USA model year. One year later, after 21 years, Jaguar ceased production of the XJS model. The fitted fuel-injected V12 engine was originally developed by Claude Baily at Jaguar in the early ’60s as the cornerstone of the company’s plan to return to motor racing at Le Mans following the success of Jaguar with the C and D models. At that time only Lamborghini and Ferrari had production V12 engines. By 1994, the engine in this particular car is in its final and most advanced configuration developing 333 bhp at 5250 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 3650 rpm. Power is transmitted to a General Motors 4 speed 4L80-E transmission with 4th gear overdrive. After two years of ownership from new, the car was sold to a Minneapolis, Minnesota architect who garaged the car during the northern winter until he retired to Texas where the car was maintained until acquired by the current owner in 2015 and has since been driven less than 1000 miles. Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/60R16 tires are fitted to the correct “turbine” alloy wheels and have only recorded some 500 miles.

During 2019 and 2020, the car was completely overhauled with new hoses, belts, transmission mounts, pads, rotors, and shock absorbers. At the same time, the original radiator and fans were upgraded and replaced with an aluminum radiator and twin 15” thermostatically controlled electric fans to better cope with higher ambient temperatures in Texas. The fuel injectors were rebuilt as was the ignition system and air-conditioning operation. All fluids and filters were replaced. The car has only recently been titled in Texas. A Carfax report is available on request. This unique car presents a Concours example of the last Jaguar-engined grand touring convertibles. The car is finished in the original flawless Brooklands Green with barley-colored Connolly leather interior, walnut burr veneer varnished trim, and rear spoiler. Both the Jaguar owner’s manual and service manual are included as are spare keys. The original tan automatic convertible roof is in excellent working condition. All instrumentation is operational as is the original Jaguar AM/FM cassette radio and trunk-mounted CD player. The seller notes that the automatic radio antenna is not “raising” and the convertible tonneau cover is stretched.
